Feature Spotlight – Integrated Seats

We try to put integrated seating in lots of our designs.  Just for that time when the sun comes out, the kettle has boiled and you want to go and enjoy your garden.

Seats and benches can be integrated into all sorts of areas in the garden.  We also use them to create focal points within designs.  Here are a few different examples we’ve done recently.

New Design – Sloping Circle Front

The success of the redesign of their back garden and the arrival of a large motor-home spurred this client to commission us to redesign their front garden.  The brief was to create a modern and clean design for the front garden, keeping as much as possible of the mature plants while increasing the access and parking capacity.

Feature Spotlight – Slate Water Wall

This modern water feature worked in all circumstances.  Made from quartzitic slate tiles that sparkle in the sun it is attractive when turned off.  It comes alive when switched on, the water gently cascades over the surface of the tiles.

To add a further dimension the feature is lit at night.  The pump and lighting are on separate circuits so you can choose to only hear it, only see it or both.

The water reservoir is hidden and so the feature is completely safe for children.

Modern Materials Design

Here’s a modern suburban garden design that we created in 2013.  We used a mixed of traditional and modern materials to create a crisp and simple design that made the most of the L shaped space.

New Year, New Tech! – Photo Realism in Garden Design

View from the Pond

New for 2013 we are going to be introducing photo realistic rendering for our garden design projects to truly communicate the potential of our designs.  Here are some examples for a design that we are building this year.

We’ve been designing in 3D for nearly 10 years now and the quality of today’s software is light years from when we started out.  Look out for more new images soon but to wet your appetite here are two more – click on the pictures for larger versions.

New Design – Crescent Layers

This garden swept around two sides of a house in St Mellons, Cardiff.  A new conservatory had been added to the house and the client wanted a total reworking of the garden.  We designed a sequence of crescent shaped curved layers to provide a set of flowing forms around the house.

A patio sighted for the late afternoon and early evening sunshine was raised to catch the last rays of the sun and adjacent was a  small wildlife pond with an integrated and lit cascade.

New Design – Peaceful Retirement

Here’s the first of the new designs that we completed in 2011.  This garden for a couple approaching retirement reworked the space after a new conservatory was added to the house.  Using aged natural stone materials to blend with the architecture of the house and surrounding conservation area the design provided a relaxing, low maintenance space.
