This small, narrow garden in Cardiff had little definition, and was in need of some care. We designed a new garden for a modest budget but maximum impact. The design used bespoke trellis to divide the space into three areas – a herb garden near the house, a dining area, and a utility area for growing vegetables and storing the bins.
The arches between the trellis and the width of the sandstone path narrowed as you progressed down the garden creating the illusion that the garden was longer than it actually was. Feature polished granite planters with specimen Euonymus alatus‘ Compactus’ were placed and lit in each of the three areas producing a rhythm along the length of the garden.
A custom integrated bench was also included for additional seating in the dining area. The flowerbeds were planted for all year round interest and low maintenance
