An old welsh longhouse was undergoing extensive alterations to create a modern, light and airy set of spaces. A clean design was required for the entertaining patio.
To make an interesting feeling of movement a sequence of new crisp rendered monoliths were build in front of the existing conifer hedging. This allowed for a hidden access route down the side of the house as well as providing an interesting contrast of plant and stone materials. Custom panels of Copper Quartzite Slate were mounted on alternate pillars seperated by evergreen jasmine to bring evening scent. The row of monoliths were underplanted with lavender and a block of black bamboo was planted adjacent to the hot tub.
